Batteries for delivery riders and small fleets

On a delivery shift the battery decides how many orders you finish. Plan capacity, chemistry and charging around your real day, not the brochure.

Quick answer

Pick a battery whose real range covers your shift with about 20 % to spare, prefer LFP because it is charged every day, top up lithium packs between shifts, and keep a spare only if your scooter has a detachable pack. Swapping networks exist in India but work only with their own compatible vehicles.

Match the battery to your daily km

Rated range is measured under easy conditions. With a loaded box, stop-start traffic and Surat heat, real range is lower. Leave a margin so a normal shift uses no more than about 80 % of the battery.

In the first week, note the km you actually get from a full charge on your own route. That number, not the brochure, tells you if you need a bigger pack or a midday top-up.

Our guide to choosing a scooter for delivery work covers range, speed and models.

LFP for daily cycling

A delivery scooter is charged almost every day, so cycle life matters more than weight. LFP is rated for the most cycles and handles heat best. All the Okaya models we sell use LFP; for other scooters we can fit an LFP pack of the right voltage with a matching charger.

Charging between shifts

  • Lithium can take a top-up in a lunch break. Okaya lists 0–80 % in about 2 hours 15 minutes for its 2.2 kWh models.
  • Lead-acid needs a long, full charge (Tunwal gives 7 to 8 hours), so it suits one shift a day with overnight charging.
  • Let a hot pack cool in the shade before plugging in, and give each vehicle its own matched charger.
  • For a fleet, keep a simple log: km per day, charge times and any errors. A pack that falls behind the others shows up early.

Spare batteries and swapping

A spare pack only works on scooters with a detachable battery. Joy lists detachable packs on the Wolf+, Gen-Next Nanu+, Gen-Next Nanu, Glob and the Eco models, so one pack can charge while the other rides. Ask us about a second pack for your model.

India also has battery swapping networks. Battery Smart reports over 1,600 stations in more than 50 cities, and Indofast Energy, the IndianOil and SUN Mobility venture, reported over 1,600 stations by early 2026. Swapping works only with vehicles built for that network's batteries, so check the network's app for stations on your route before you plan around it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How many km can a delivery scooter do on one charge?

Less than the rated range once you add load, stops and heat. Measure your own km per charge in the first week and plan with a margin.

Which battery is best for daily delivery use?

LFP. It is rated for the most charge cycles and handles heat best, which matters when you charge every day.

Can I keep a spare battery for my electric scooter?

Only if the pack is detachable, like on the Joy Wolf+ or Gen-Next Nanu+. Ask us on WhatsApp 99091 21112 about a second pack for your model.

Do you supply batteries for a fleet of scooters?

Yes, retail and wholesale, in lead-acid, lithium-ion and LFP. Send the vehicles, voltage and quantity on WhatsApp 99091 21112 and we reply with options.

Running a few delivery scooters?

Tell us your vehicles and daily km on WhatsApp 99091 21112. We suggest the battery and charging plan, and test your current packs free.
